Founded in 2022 by Mea Lath, the Modern Apsara Company (MAC) is the premier Cambodian performing arts company based in Long Beach, California dedicated to connecting the modern world to the magic of Cambodian classical dance. Join Katherine Kim from the Koreatown Youth and Community Center as she shares the process of gathering oral histories from youth who interviewed their elders—practitioners of traditional healing arts—in a powerful exploration of intergenerational knowledge.
John Shen Yen Nee, co-author of The Murder of Mr. Ma

Join John Shen Yen Nee as he discusses his debut novel, The Murder of Mr. Ma. In 1920s London, Lao She is thrust into a high-stakes investigation with Judge Dee Ren Jie, as they track a killer targeting Chinese immigrants. John Shen Yen Nee is a half Chinese, half Scottish American media executive, producer and entrepreneur who was born in Knoxville, grew up in San Diego, and is now based in Los Angeles, with a penchant for very long run-on sentences. He has served as president of WildStorm Productions; senior vice president of DC Comics; publisher of Marvel Comics; CEO of Cryptozoic Entertainment; and cofounder of CCG Labs.

Cartoonist Lela Lee shares how she created the "Angry Little Asian Girl" and then expanded it to "Angry Little Girls." Lela believes that representation begins with drawing and writing what you wish to see and change about the world.

Meet award-winning and bestselling author and illustrator Jen Wang as she discusses her newest work, Ash's Cabin. Her other works include Stargazing, The Prince and The Dressmaker, In Real Life (co-written with Cory Doctorow), and Koko Be Good. She is also the co-founder of the Los Angeles comics festival, Comic Arts LA.
Lei Making with Leilani Huggins

Learn to make a small lei with Leilani, a Hawaiian floral artist and lei maker based in Los Angeles. While continuing her family’s lei legacy, Leilani works to bring together Hawaiians and those who have Hawaii in their hearts, spreading the aloha spirit and uniting all who love lei.
Children's Picture Book Room
Ann Chau, author of My Ông Ngoại’s Garden

Ann Chau is a second-generation Vietnamese-American who lives with her husband, fun-loving toddler, and infant. She wants to share her passion for the Vietnamese language and culture with her children and future generations with her first self-published book, My Ông Ngoại’s Garden.
As a lifelong learner and advocate for higher education, Ann holds a BA in Asian American Studies from UCLA and a Master’s in Public Administration from CSULB. She is currently an Associate Director of Stewardship and Development Operations at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She is also deeply committed to promoting Asian American Studies and making a difference in her community. Ann also enjoys exploring the great outdoors through gardening, hiking, and camping with her family in her spare time.
Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson, author of The Mochi Makers

Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson is the author-illustrator of The Mochi Makers and Shell Song. She is a fourth-generation Japanese American who grew up in both America and Japan. She now lives in California in a house filled with three generations, two languages, and countless books and art supplies.
Charlotte Cheng, author of Night Market Rescue

Meet author and illustrator Charlotte Cheng, who has written and illustrated a variety of books including Night Market Rescue, Roar-Choo!, I Miss You Most, and BoBo Loves Dumplings. A second-generation Taiwanese American, Charlotte shares her vibrant storytelling with audiences of all ages.
With over 20 years of EdTech experience, Charlotte has developed K-12 curricula for leading companies such as CodeCombat, Disney, LeapFrog and Wonder Workshop.
As an inspiring speaker, Charlotte has captivated audiences at renowned events like the National American Library Association Conference, the LA Times Book Festival, and the Bay Area Book Festival. LaosAngeles presents Healing Out Lao'd podcast with Rita Phetmixay

Rita Phetmixay (she/they/boo) is a 2nd generation Lao Isaan American politicized mental health practitioner, social entrepreneur, independent audio producer, award-winning filmmaker and the Founder/CEO of the Healing Out Lao’d, LLC. Based in Los Angeles, Rita’s work is inspired by her own lived experiences of complex trauma growing up as a daughter of refugees in rural North Carolina and witnessing the lack of Lao representation in media. Rita is currently producing HOL’s season 3 podcast episodes in addition to facilitating workshops/training/digital content focused on the topics of mental health/wellness, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Outside of work, Rita enjoys spending quality time with chosen family & her dog “Shilah,” playing pickleball, traveling, and exploring cafes centering Southeast Asian flavors.
Kimono Demonstration presented by L.A. Kimono Club

Learn how to dance a Vietnamese Hat Dance with instructor Peggy Nguyen.
LA-Based Dance artist and teacher, Peggy Nguyen invites movers of all ages to learn and re-imagine a Nón lá (Vietnamese Hat) Dance. Participants will engage in a creative process to explore and perform movements inspired by the Year of the Snake and other zodiac animals.

Naomi Hirahara, Michael Okamura and Kristen Hayashi: Telling Stories About Los Angeles

Laura Park presents the history and types of Hanbok, showcases traditional accessories, and demonstrates proper wearing techniques. Additionally, Laura and her staff teach the audience how to make small pouches or pencil cases using traditional Korean fabrics and Bojagi.

Teens, join author Wesley Chu for an engaging writing workshop aimed at sparking your creativity and honing your storytelling abilities. Wesley Chu has authored several books including The Art of Prophecy, The Lives of Tao, as well as The Red Scrolls of Magic and The Lost Book of the White with Cassandra Clare.
Blooming Together: A Community Garden Art Project with Kim Chua

Audience: All ages
Each participant will have the opportunity to choose a flower that represents different AANHPI cultures, allowing them to express their unique identity and connection to their heritage. We are also proud to feature artwork from talented AANHPI disabled and neurodivergent creatives, showcasing their incredible contributions and perspectives in the art world. At the end of the event, all individual flowers will be combined into a larger installation shaped like a beautiful flower, symbolizing unity and collective creativity.

Cosplay for Science is a science communication initiative created by four nerds who also happen to be scientists.
As scientists and educators, our goal is to reach our communities to foster science appreciation through the use of nerd and pop culture. We want to make science more relatable to our audience's everyday lives and interests. We want to make scientists more approachable and trustworthy. We want to create a community that acknowledges the importance of science and appreciates it as we do, all while having fun with it at the same time.
