2025 has seen an immense surge of interest in digital currency, specifically cryptocurrency. We are still far away from the widespread adoption of this new type of money. While some view it as a risky investment akin to a Ponzi scheme or gambling, others see it as a revolution—a future driver of the economy. As of now, it is an arena still rife with uncertainty. To make more informed decisions about cryptocurrency, the Library provides access to resources for increasing your understanding of this befuddling topic.

  • Have you been approached with a crypto opportunity and want to confirm whether or not it is a scam? Check DFPI's scam tracker for complaints filed by consumers. The DFPI continuously monitors the fast-evolving crypto landscape and aims to protect every Californian from scams.

CBDC Tracker - Human Rights Foundation

  • Human Rights Foundation (HRF) 's Central Bank Digital Currency Tracker is an initiative that maps the development and implementation of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) around the world. It focuses on how CBDCs will impact the civil liberties and human rights of people living under authoritarian regimes.

CoinGecko

  • Provides digital currency prices and fundamental analysis of the cryptocurrency market. CoinGecko tracks price, volume, market capitalization, community growth, open-source code development, major events, and on-chain metrics.

CryptoCompare

  • Find comprehensive cryptocurrency market data on this platform. CyptoCompare pulls data from globally recognized exchanges and provides cryptocurrency market volumes and prices, exchange volumes, the market capitalization of coins, exchange ratings, news, and sentiment data.
