Teachers get an extended loan period to facilitate the use of library materials with their class.
- Borrow up to 50 items
- Keep items for up to 16 weeks
To qualify for teacher loans, you must obtain two library cards, one for personal use and one Teacher Card, and be a resident of the city of Los Angeles. You can register online for a library card for personal use. To qualify for a Teacher Card, you must submit identification showing your current status as a teacher (grades preschool-12), homeschool educator, adult school instructor, teacher-librarian, or school library aide. Remember to submit proof of teaching status with this application to expedite the process.
A Teacher Card allows you to borrow a total of 50 items, with some restrictions, pending librarian approval. Most items checked out on a Teacher Card (except DVDs, videos, and music) are loaned for 16 weeks with no renewals. Teachers will be responsible for fees incurred for lost or damaged items.
