Chris Grine is a Will-Eisner nominated comic book author and illustrator. He is the creator of the Eisner-nominated series Chickenhare, Time Shifters, and the Secrets of Camp Whatever. Chris is also busy adapting the first three books in the classic Animorphs book series into graphic novel form. The first book The Invasion was published in 2020. Chris loves coffee and collecting action figures (but only the bad guys).
How did you get into comics?
As far back as I can remember I was creating my own characters and stories, but it wasn’t really until after college that I decided to create a comic for real and try to get it published. There were a LOT of obstacles and rejections along the way but eventually someone saw something they liked in my ideas and gave me my first opportunity.
Who encouraged you the most growing up?
My parents made sure I had all the art supplies I would ever need growing up, but it wasn’t until middle school that I really remember teachers whispering together about me and pushing me in a way only great teachers can.

What’s your favorite imaginary creature?
Gnomes! I actually love the idea of gnomes running around the forest just doing gnome business.
