Disability Compensation Eligibility - A monthly benefit paid for any injury, condition or illness started or exacerbated by active service in the military. Find information from the VA here and in CalVet here.

  • Agent Orange - The U.S. military sprayed millions of gallons of Agent Orange and other herbicides on trees and vegetation during the Vietnam War. The VA offers eligible Veterans a free Agent Orange Registry Health Exam for possible long-term health problems related to exposure.
  • Depleted Uranium - The U.S. military uses tank armor and some bullets made with depleted uranium. They were used on a large scale during the 1990-1991 Gulf War. If you think you were exposed to it during your military service, talk to your local VA Environmental Health Coordinator. Ask to be screened for depleted uranium exposure, and ask about the Depleted Uranium Follow-Up Program. 
  • Post Traumatic Stress - The VA provides nearly 200 specialized PTS treatment programs and each VA Medical Center has PTS specialists who can assist in providing treatment for Veterans. 
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) - The Veterans Health Administration has a Polytrauma System of care to treat and care for Veterans with TBI alone or in combination with other injuries and health conditions. Find facility locations here.
  • Military Sexual Trauma (MST) - The VA provides free, confidential counseling and treatment for mental and physical health conditions related to experiences of MST.   Every VA facility has providers knowledgeable about treatment for the after effects of MST.

Didi Hirsch - Didi Hirsch offers mental health services for military families and Veterans as well as other resources.

Disabled Veterans National Foundation - The DVNF exists to provide support to disabled and at-risk Veterans who leave the military wounded.

Paralyzed Veterans of America - An organization dedicated to Veterans service, medical research and civil rights for people with disabilities. Expertise on spinal cord injury or dysfunction.

The Soldier’s Project - Provides free, confidential psychological to US military Veterans and their loved ones who have served at any time after September 11, 2001.

UCLA Health: Operation Mend - This program provides returning military personnel with severe facial and other medical injuries access to the nation’s top plastic and reconstructive surgeons, as well as comprehensive medical and mental-health support for the wounded and their families.

Wounded Warrior Project - Wounded Warrior Project serves Veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001.

U.S. Vets -  U.S. Vets offers a wide range of programs designed specifically to address the unique needs of Veterans.
