Poster Printing

A poster printer in the Octavia Lab

Poster Printing

The Octavia Lab has an Epson large-format printer. Lab members may print images as large as 36” x 48”. Lab members may only print one poster per week. Only one print request per person will be accepted and printed at a time. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

How does it work?

Poster printing requires that you provide a print-ready image file. Print submissions must be at least 18” x 24” and 200 dpi. You may submit your image file via email or on a flash drive. Lab staff will have lab members verify they are printing the correct image at the correct scale. Lab members must be present to complete an invoice before their print job is printed.

How much does it cost?

Access to the lab’s software/equipment/tools is limited to lab members only. Lab membership is free. Since we are currently in our soft launch, lab members are eligible to receive one free poster print a week.

What do I need to bring?

In order to use the poster printer, you will need to provide your own image file. You may bring your image to the lab on a flash drive, or you can email it to us at octavialab@lapl.org.

We accept the following image formats:

  • TIFF
  • JPEG
  • PNG
  • PDF

We do not accept the following image formats:

  • AI
  • PSD

The Octavia Lab supplies singleweight matte paper. The paper is acid-free, and is 120 gsm. The Octavia Lab does not require, or allow outside paper to be used on the printer.

The printer may be used for lawful purposes only. Users will not be permitted to use the printer to print images that are:

  • Prohibited by local, state or federal law.

  • In violation of another’s intellectual property rights; for example, materials that are subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.

  • Are inappropriate for the library environment.

Lab staff will review every object file before it is printed, and the library reserves the right to refuse any print request.

Lab members are responsible for design specifications (including measurements, color, bleed, etc).

Lab staff is not responsible for design flaws, and will not modify submissions.

The Lab does not print in the last 30 minutes of our operating hours.

You can check your image’s print size by using this grid. If you are unsure if your image meets our submission requirements, feel free to submit your file to octavialab@lapl.org. Lab staff will review your request and briefly evaluate each submitted file for size, compatibility with printer, and the need for support.
