State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda

March 10, 2016 to August 21, 2016

Learning what propaganda is and how to counter it is essential in today’s information-saturated world. The special exhibition State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda, produced by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, explores how the Nazis used propaganda to win broad voter support in Germany, implement radical programs, and justify war and mass murder.

This most extreme case study emphasizes why the issue of propaganda matters and challenges citizens to actively question, analyze, and seek the truth.

This exhibit will be on display from March 10 through August 21, 2016, at the Central Library. The exhibit and related programs are free.

The exhibition presentation in Los Angeles has been made possible by the generous support of the Samuel Goldwyn Foundation, the Herb Alpert Foundation, the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation, and the Angell Foundation.

The exhibition was underwritten in part by grants from Katharine M. and Leo S. Ullman and the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation, with additional support from the Lester Robbins and Sheila Johnson Robbins Traveling and Special Exhibitions Fund established in 1990 and Dr. and Mrs. Sol Center.
